Miguel Cabrera Wednesday became the first player in Detroit Tigers history to hit at least 30 home runs in five straight seasons.
He hit a solo homer in the Tigers' 5-1 win over the Twins, so now Cabrera has surpassed 30 homers in eight of his 10 seasons in the majors.
Following Wednesday's game, Cabrera stands second in the American League batting race with a .327 average. His 30 home runs are tied for third-most in the majors behind only Adam Dunn's 33 for the White Sox and Josh Hamilton's 32 for the Rangers.
Cabrera also padded his lead in the RBI race with two Wednesday. He now has a major league-best 103 RBI, four more than Hamilton.
Twins manager Ron Gardenhire told Fox Sports Detroit: "I think he's the best hitter in our league as far as power, the whole package, driving in runs, a producer. I've said that for a few years. He's so dangerous."
