The irony of this is rich.

Many radio hosts on 910 AM gained notoriety, and subsequently a slot on the station for doing something that was either illegal, immoral or socially outrageous. For example, Christine Beatty, Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick's chief of staff, got a radio spot on 910 AM after serving time for felony obstruction charges. Monica Conyers, a former city council member, landed a radio gig with the station after 27 months in prison for bribery.

Now Warren Mayor James Fouts has been fired as a weekend host on 910 AM for for offensive commenyts about mentally challenged people, Jonathan Carlson of WXYZ reports.

Interestingly, if he hadn't had a show, Fouts may have been given one for creating controversy and saying the offensive things he said.

A recording released by Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel shows Fouts saying:

“Now on Friday night instead of like in the past, I would be going to meet some women, tonight I am going to meet a group of retards. Tonight is retard night.”

“You see these people, I don’t know, what good are they? They are dysfunctional human beings. They aren’t even human beings. I don’t want any part of this. this is one of the worst parts of being mayor. This is bottom of the barrel. I don’t want to be around them. I wish them well in a cage."

Fouts claims the tape was doctored and he didn't actually say those offensive things.

Now, if he can only find a way to get convicted of something, he may have a shot at a show on 910 AM again.
