Third Detroit Homeowner This Week Shoots And Kills A Home Invader

Detroit Police say a woman shot and killed an intruder this afternoon at her home in the 22700 block of Grove on the city' west side, WXYZ reports.

The shooting was the third time this week that home invaders were shot and killed by homeowners. A similar incident took place Feb. 17, when a woman fired at teenagers attempting to break in. No one was hurt, but three youths were arrested.

Police say a man in his 20s attempted to break into her home through a rear window Friday. When the homeowner heard the noise, she grabbed her handgun and warned the invader that she was armed. The suspect continued to break in and the woman shot him once in the chest.
