A third Grosse Ile High School lacrosse player faces charges of partaking in a pregame ritual that involved slaughtering a guinea pig on April 30, Dearborn Patch reports.

The student, who was 16 at the time of the incident, is being charged as a juvenile, the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office announced on Tuesday.  His name is not being released. A pretrial hearing is set for Aug. 11.

Tanner Coolsaet, 18, and Michael Roth, 17, both of Grosse Ile, were charged earlier this month with two counts each of killing/torturing an animal and animal cruelty, reports Beth Dalbey of Patch.

Authorities allege that the juvenile stabbed the guinea pig with a knife. Coolsaet is accused of slitting the guinea pig’s throat, and Roth is accused of striking it with a small bat, Patch reports.

A probable cause conference was held Tuesday for the other two teens and a preliminary is set for Aug. 15.
