OK, mark us tardy to the party. Yes, we should hit Northern Lights Lounge and The Crofoot more often.
Still, thanks to The Detroit News' weekly column by Susan Whitall and Chuck Bennett, we've caught up with a cleverly named local music collective.

The Detroit hip-hop collective's first album came out in December 2009.
It's Cold Men Young -- a play on you-know-who's name.
Some of the biggest names in Detroit hip-hop have been invited to 1701 Cigar Bar in Cadillac Square on Nov. 16 for a private listening party featuring rapper Mic Phelps of the Detroit hip-hop collective Cold Men Young (yes, as in the former mayor). The event will debut Phelps’ latest collaboration, “Grand De$ign.”
The collective has released nine CDs and EPs since 2009, and the new one drops Dec. 30 for downloading here. (Promo video below.) A public record release party will be held at Tangent Art Gallery the same day, The News' "Society Confidential" item adds.
