A truck purportedly carrying frozen vegetables from Canada to Chicago was discovered by Ambassador Bridge Customs inspectors to be smuggling 156 pounds of marijuana. 

WWJ: After crossing the Ambassador Bridge from Windsor, Ontario last Friday, a 62-year old Canadian man arrived at the Fort Street Cargo facility in Detroit with a shipment manifested as frozen vegetables, destined for Chicago.

Authorities say the shipment was referred for a “routine enforcement check,” including an X-ray scan which came back inconclusive.

After the X-ray scan, officers visually examined the shipment of 29 pallets and discovered 134 packages of marijuana mixed within the shipment of vegetables. The marijuana has an estimated street value of about $626,000.

As you may have assumed, the driver was arrests and the truck impounded.
