Eric Turner, who is three, was shot in the head Saturday morning on Woodward in Highland Park and is expected to have a long recovery at Children's Hospital of Michigan after having brain surgery, WDIV reports.
“He is moving his hands. He is alert that people is there. He can hear people. We are just taking it day-by-day and trusting in God,” his mother Kristy Murphy tells WDIV.
Police said someone in a dark-colored SUV fired shots at a vehicle Turner was riding in with his father and another man, who were also shot and wounded. His twin sister and 5-year-old sister were also in the car but were not shot.
Michigan State Police have taken over the investigation into the shooting and say they believe it was a targeted shooting. No arrests have been made in the case.
