First, let's get to the good news.

Justin Verlander pitched a very good game Friday night in Minnesota. He threw 116 pitches in 7 2/3 innings and gave up one run on five hits, according to the Detroit Free Press. As Larry David would have said: Pretty pretty good.

Now, for the really bad news.

The Tigers gave up seven runs in the ninth inning against Minnesota and lost 8-6.

Yes, you guessed it. The bullpen was really lousy.

Bruce Rondon allowed three of the seven runs and Joakim Soria allowed four.
