Ok, this is not the year of low expectations. We don't want to hear some yahoos saying: "Hey, be thankful for how ever far the Tigers go."
Yes, the Tigers clinched a playoff berth Tuesday night with a 4-2 victory over Minnesota. Not good enough. They're still one game away from clinching the third AL Central Division title for the third year in a row.
Cleveland's last-minute victory against the Chicago White Sox prevented the Tigers from the clinching the division.
Nonetheless, we expect the Tigers will clinch the division.
And, yes, we expect the team to go all the way.
Unfortunately, anything short of a World Series Championship will be a disappointment to Tigers fans this year.
The pitching. The hitting lineup suggests the team should take all. But in the back of our minds we remember the recent outings against Oakland and Boston (Ouch!).
This won't be easy.
But that doesn't matter.
We expect to see a parade down Woodward Avenue with Cabrera and Scherzer and Fielder waving to the masses, celebrating the ultimate.
