
The Tigers have filled their three-year vacancy at second base and found another pitcher, but to do that, they had to trade their top pitching prospect.
On Monday they dealt right-hander Jacob Turner and two minor leaguers to the Miami Marlins for Omar Infante, who becomes the Tigers second baseman, and right-handed starter Anibal Sanchez, who has one of the best quality-starts percentages in the National League.
“We gave up a lot -- we know that,” club president Dave Dombrowski said on a teleconference with reporters Monday night. “It hurts. But we’re trying to win this season, and you have to give up talent to acquire talent.”
