With most of the attention going to Miguel Cabrera this season for what he's done at the plate, Prince Fielder hasn't bristled or felt left out, writes Tom Gage in the Detroit News.
But Fielder was the star Sunday after his two-run home run not only beat the Minnesota Twins, 2-1, at Target Field, but enabled the Tigers to clinch at least a tie for the American League Central title.
One more win, in their next three at Kansas City, and the division is theirs.
One more loss for the White Sox, who've all but vanished with a 2-10 record in their last 12 games, and the same will be true. The Tigers will be heading to the postseason as Central champs.
One of the reasons they've had such a season, however, is that Fielder is hitting .309 with 30 home runs and 108 RBI in his first year as a Tiger.
