The very-uneven Detroit Tigers are experiencing a decline in TV viewership, but the team still is one of the the most-watched in Major League Baseball, Crain's Detroit Business reports.
Bill Shea of Crain's reports that the Tigers, entering the All-Star Game break, generated a 6.93 average household rating for Southfield-based regional sports network Fox Sports Detroit, the fifth best among the 30 MLB teams.
A year ago, Detroit had averaged a 7.22 household rating at the All-Star break, which ranked third in baseball after the Kansas City Royals (12.06) and St. Louis Cardinals (9.25), Shea reports.
The declines in viewership could be reversed with a strong second half of the season, Crain's notes.
The Tigers are currently 49-45 and 6.5 games behind the first-place Cleveland Indians.
