The presidential race in Michigan, as in some other states, continues to tighten.

The latest: The gap between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump has narrowed, with Clinton leading Trump 42% to 38% in an exclusive statewide poll commissioned by the Detroit Free Press and conducted by EPIC-MRA.  A previous poll, released on Oct,  27th, showed Clinton with a 7-point lead.

Todd Spangler of the Freep reports:

The poll, done exclusively for the Free Press by EPIC-MRA of Lansing, shows Clinton’s support steady at 42% -- up a point from where it was late last month. But it also clearly shows Republicans and some independents rallying around Trump in the waning days of the campaign season, with his support up four points from two weeks ago to 38%.

The poll contributes much of Trump’s gains to voters abandoning Libertarian Gary Johnson.

The poll also shows that 13 percent of the voters are still undecided, which is considered high for this late in the game, the Freep reports. Should that number break toward Trump, it could be a determining factor in the race.

"Half of them I think are going to end up not going to the polls,” EPIC-MRA pollster Bernie Porn tells the Freep.
