John Rakolta Jr.
John Rakolta Jr., a Detroit developer and construction company executive, who has been a generous benefactor to the Republican party, was nominated Wednesday by President Donald Trump to be the U.S. ambassador to the United Arab Emirates. .
Rakolta has been the CEO of the Detroit construction company Walbridge Aldinger since 1993.
Kathleen Gray of the Detroit Free Press reports:
The Bloomfield Hills resident is the third Michigander nominated for an ambassadorship by Trump after Suburban Collection chairman and CEO David Fischer got the nod in November to be ambassador to Morocco and former U.S. Rep. Pete Hoekstra, R-Holland, was named ambassador to the Netherlands.
His appointment is subject to confirmation by the U.S. Senate.
