Chris French, a lawyer from Gibraltar and co-owner of the Brass Monkey Bar in Wyandotte, desperately posted this on Facebook last Friday:

Dear friends -- I need your help. My family inadvertently donated my 1985 Back Stradivarius Trumpet to the Salvation Army on Wednesday (the workers helped unload the truck and took it when my son was not looking).

It was accompanied by a Downriver Community Band folder, as I am a member. It ws sold yesterday at the Salvation Army Store on Fort & Van Horn. Please spread the word so that I may reclaim my cherished instrument.

All is well now.

Allen Stone, who bought the horn for about $115,  was watching WDIV Sunday evening as French's story aired and returned the horn, reports Prya Mann of the station. French and his wife wept on camera when the trumpet arrived

"The value of the trumpet itself isn't important," French said. "It's 32 years. I started playing this trumpet when I was 14 years old and I'm 45 now."
