A grandfather died Wednesday night protecting his grandchildren on Detroit’s west side, according to the Detroit News.
Several men broke into a home in the 6000 block of Rutland St. at about 11p.m. and started pistol-whipping a 16-year-old boy. Three other children, ages 13, 11, and 9, were in the home at the time.
The grandfather of the boy lives next door, and came over to the home when he heard the commotion. The grandfather was shot in the back while protecting his 13-year-old granddaughter from the attackers.
On Detroit's East Side, a man who came to the aid of a woman being beaten was stabbed to death, according to a story by WXYZ-TV.
