An existing TV series and a new one will get film incentives from the state, the Michigan Film office announced Tuesday.

'Ask Dr. Nandi-Season 3" and "American Muscle" were given awards totaling about $1.9 million.

“Michigan-based television series help expose audiences to the state, while offering opportunities for crew and local businesses,” Margaret O’Riley, director of the Michigan Film Office, said in a statement. “Both of these projects highlight talented entrepreneurs who call Michigan home.”

The film office said that "Ask Dr. Nandi-Season 3," a physician talk show, is currently filming in Farmington Hills and was awarded an incentive of $1,582,898 on $6,437,789 of projected in-state expenditures. It's expected to hire 41 Michigan workers with a full time equivalent of 49 jobs.

The state agency says that "American Muscle" will premiere tonight.

The show follows Michigan gym owner and health guru Mike Barwis and his staff as they work to train professional athletes and the middle-aged dads that work out alongside them, the state agency says.

The project was awarded an incentive of $308,869 on $1,253,682 of projected in-state expenditures and expected to hire 14 Michigan workers with a fulltime equivalent of 6 jobs, the agency said in a press release.

The Michigan Film Office was created in 1979.
