In this age of terrorism, bomb threats seem to be even a bigger deal than they were many years ago.

On Wednesday, police took two 14-year-old girls into custody in connection with a pair of bomb threats made to a Roseville Middle School in April, Norb Franz writes at The Macomb Daily. They'll be charged as juveniles.

One is an eighth-grader at the school and the other is from Oak Park. The phone threats were made April 19 and 20. Both days students and staff were evacuated.

In each incident, the unidentified caller claimed there was a bomb in the building, police said. Students and staff were evacuated from the school each day.

“This is a very, very serious offense,” Roseville Police Chief James Berlin tells the suburban daily. “They may think it’s a joke or lark or whatever, but the fear it puts into classmates or parents . . . it is not funny.”
