The data is rather striking.
David Jesse of the Detroit Free Press reports that a University of Michigan survey found that more than 20% of undergraduate female students at the university say they experienced non-consensual sexual behavior in the past year.
About 12% said they experienced non-consensual sexual penetration, the Freep repoted. Less than 5% reported the incident to the university.
The survey involved 3,000 students.
"We will need to review this data with care ... and plan our next evolution of caring for our students," Holly Rider-Milkovich, director of the university's Sexual Assault Prevention and Awareness, said according to the Freep.
