That was quick.
Detroit U.S. Attorney Barbara McQuade is off to teach at the University of Michigan Law School, according to a U-M press release.
McQuade, who earned a law degree from U-M, was one of 46 U.S. Attorneys in country from the Obama administration ordered last Friday to resign. On Monday, it was announced that Daniel Lemisch, second in charge of the office, was stepping in as acting U.S. attorney in interim until President Donald Trump appoints a new person.
McQuade, the first woman to serve as U.S. attorney in Detroit, will join the school on May 1 and teach in the areas of national security, criminal law and criminal procedure.
“As U.S. Attorney, Barb oversaw more than 1,000 cases a year and a team of more than 100 attorneys. Her legacy includes an impressive number of important convictions, and our students will benefit tremendously from the experience and perspective she brings to the classroom,” Mark D. West, University of Michigan Law School Dean and Nippon Life Professor of Law, said in a statement “I am thrilled to welcome Barb home to Michigan Law as a member of our faculty.”
