Watch this space Monday for confirmation of a 2014 run that seems virtually certain.

Charles Crumm of The Oakland Press previews Monday's expected entry into the 2014 race.

Land, a Republican National Committee member, said she'll announce her decision via the social media platform Twitter.

She has been waiting to see if U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers would run, but Rogers hasn't announced a decision yet.

Land has said whoever runs should begin campaigning by June 1 because of the nature of running a statewide campaign.

Land, a West Michigan resident who turns 55 this month, tweeted last Thursday: "GOP tiring of waiting for Rogers," with a Detroit News article link.

Congressman Gary Peters of West Bloomfield, is the only declared Democratic candidate and appears unlikely to be challenged by anyone in his party.

Land has a campaign-like website with news links, dozens of photo galleries and a calendar of public appearances, including a Warren address Juner 8 to the Macomb County Republican Women's Club.

Her online bio says "political involvement began in her high school years" as a volunteer for hometown presidential candidate Gerald Ford. Land has a political science degree from Hope College.

After serving as Kent County clerk, she lost a state Board of Education race in 2000 and won her first of two terms as secretary of state in 2002.

She and her husband of 30 years, Dan Hibma, live in Byron Center and have an adult son and daughter.
