Uber Driver Murdered in Detroit; Tried to Run, but Shot

An Uber driver in his mid-20s was killed on Detroit's west side Sunday night, Allie Gross of the Detroit Free Press reports.

The incident happened around 7:40 p.m. in the 1500 block of Coyle St.  

A woman tells police she called for an Uber to pick up food. After getting in, she saw a pickup truck pull up. The Uber driver jumped out and ran and the person in the pickup got out of the car and began firing. The suspect returned to his pickup and fled.

In 2016, Uber driver Modou Diagne, 51, was murdered in the city after getting into an altercation with a customer.
