The Detroit News reports that Amalgamated Transit Union Local 26 President Henry Gaffney says about 50 of his members have reporting seeing bed bugs on buses.

FDDOT CEO Ron Freeland says they are unaware of a widespread problem.

Detroit News: Freeland said the amount of bedbugs the crew has found so far in the cleaning process isn't unusual for a service with an average of 100,000 riders each day.

"I, personally, am not aware of any widespread problem," he said. "Where we do have problems, we are in fact dealing with it."

Freeland also told the News that when beg bugs are found, buses are cleaned and fumigated. -- JTW
