Update, 3:09 p.m. Friday: A 4-year-old boy shot himself in the leg, causing an injury that apparently isn't life-threatening, WWJ says.
One of his parents has a gun permit, according to the station, but could face criminal charges for not securing the weapon.

A 4-year-old shot himself in a car Friday while the parents loaded groceries in the back of the vehicle at a Kroger parking lot in Northfield Commons in Troy, WXYZ reports.
He was taken to a nearby hospital.
