Update: Thursday, 4:22 p.m. -- Detroit elections officials waited several days to deliver nearly 100 poll books to Wayne County officials certifying the presidential election, Joel Kurth and Jonathan Oosting of the Detroit News report.
In the end, the lion's share surfaced, but five still are missing. Canvassers compare poll books with printouts from voting machines to ensure the number of people who signed in to vote match the number of ballots cast.

Weeks after the 2016 presidential elections, there is talk that the Russians had a hand in trying to influence the outcome.
In Detroit there are questions about the vote tally, which was a mess. But the Russians are not to blame.
Detroit Free Press columnist Rochelle Riley reports that state Election Director Chris Thomas cited a disturbing memo about Detroit:
Among the problems cited in the memo, he said: Ninety-one precinct reports were not delivered on time. County officials had to re-create missing poll books. Five precincts had no poll books, so Detroit election officials had to find voter applications and re-create the books — and hundreds of poll worksheets had either too few or too many ballots.
“I got an e-mail yesterday from Wayne County showing me what the issues were on (Detroit) polling places and precincts, and quite frankly, it was somewhat shocking,” Thomas told Riley.
Thomas tells the Freep that Detroit will get new election machines in time for the 2017 mayoral election.
