Update: Saturday, 12:02 p.m. --  The teens who died have been identified as: Jonathan Manolios and Emanuel Malaj  of Sterling Heights and Michael Wells of Macomb Township, according to the Detroit News. All were 17.

 

Psychologists and first responders know this can be a risky mix: A warm night during graduation season, a hot sports car, a young driver, a cruise with four buddies, an inviting road.

The latest tragic result leaves three Macomb families grieving on Mothers Day weekend. 

Three teenagers were killed and two others injured in a single-car crash Friday night in Stony Creek Metropark in Macomb County, WXYZ reports. The victims were 17 and 18.

Mike Woolfolks of the station reports that a 2008 Jaguar S-Type was driving near Eastwood Beach around 6:15 p.m. at a high-rate of speed when it crossed the lane, struck a guard rail and went into the Stony Creek River, according to Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham.

Four of the five were ejected. The Jaguar was going at an estimated speed of about 70-80 mph, a witness tells WXYZ.
