The commercial section of the Corktown area, which has had its share of car thefts and break-ins, is making the news for the wrong reasons.
Detroit Police investigators are trying to determine if overnight break-ins early Tuesday morning at two popular eating spots, Slows Bar BQ and Johnny Noodle King are connected, Perry Farrell of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Detroit Sgt. Adam Madera, a police spokesman tells the Freep: “There’s nothing we’ve connected as of yet."
“I know we had the two restaurants. All of them happened around the same time frame. There’s also the issue with Slows; we do not have any indication as of yet that anything was taken or broken into. It is a possibility the door was just left open. That’s also something that’s still being investigated. We do not anything specifically taken with (Johnny Noodle King), but you could tell that the place was gone through and things thrown around.’’
There have been break-ins in the commercial district in recent months, the worst being Katoi on Michigan Avenue.
In February, there was a break-in at the popular eating spot and subsequent fire that authorities believe is arson. The place was seriously damaged and hasn't reopened.
