Update: Wednesday,  3:27 p.m. -- Ok. So suspend the cynicism, at least for the moment.

The Tigers beat down the Indians, 12-2 in the final game of the series. And boy did that feel good.

Michael Fulmer pitched six innings, allowed two runs, but only one earned.

Original article, Wednesday morning:

When I played Llittle League baseball, teams forfeited  the game when enough players didn't show up.

Well, the Tigers seem to keep showing up for games against Cleveland, but the way things have been going, they might as well not.

They've now lost 11 in a row against Cleveland. Tuesday night in Cleveland they got buried, losing 12-1.

To be honest, before the game started, I figured they were going to get killed.

Anibal Sanchez, who had been relegated to the bullpen, started. The Tigers are running out of healthy starters.

Sanchez doesn't have it anymore to be a starter. He's not bad as a reliever for one, two or three innings. But beyond that, he's not worthy. That's just the way it goes.

The Tigers are now 7.5 games behind the first-place Indians.

They play today at 12:10 p.m.

It's never good to give up.

But they've looked pretty hopeless against one of the hotter teams baseball.
