March roars in with an arsenal of street weapons, Detroit's top cop says.

"I've never seen a week like last week," Chief James Craig said Monday at a media briefing, according to the Free Press.

The Detroit Police Department seized 110 handguns and 20 long guns last week and made 70 concealed carry weapon arrests. ...

Craig said a trend of people shooting at cops continues, and that the number of 2021 incidents in which people fired or pointed weapons at DPD officers — six —is on pace to top last year’s 12 incidents.

He listed four cases in under a week where people shot or aimed guns at officers.

In a case from over the weekend, officers attempting a traffic stop were fired at, resulting in five arrests. ... "There's no such thing as a routine traffic stop or routine encounter."
