
It seemed almost criminal.
The Tigers were ahead 4-0 in the the bottom of the ninth and Jim Leyland brought in Jose Valverde.
Ok. We can buy that.
But once it was 4-2 it seemed rather obvious: Get Valverde the hell out of there. Still, miraculously, the tigers pulled it off in the 12th inning, winning 6-4.
Still, the questions lingers: What do we do about Valverde? Can we take that kind of stress?
We've got a closer problem.
Valverde is not our guy to bring it home in the 9th. Or is he?
Sadly, Doug Fister pitched a great game. Not perfect. He got into some jams. But he got out of the jams. Then Valvere screwed it all up. Stress. Stress. Stress.
Jim Leyland, in a televised press conference, said about Valverde: "We're going to discuss this as a staff."
