Detroiters love a good come back, particularly when it's a sweet one.
We all remember Sanders, which fell into bankruptcy but has made a comeback of sorts under new ownership.

Well, now there's Sydney Bogg, maker of candies which operated on Woodward in Detroit until it closed in 2002.

Crain's Detroit Business reports that the company is quietly making a comeback at its Berkley location, thanks to three former employees of the original Woodward spot, who are operating Synder Bogg's Sweet Essentials LLC.

Sherri Welch of Crains writes:

The newer store, in Berkley, is producing the familiar chocolate, pecan and caramel clusters, nutty buttered corn, toffee, barks and other candies that Sydney Bogg first began selling in 1936. It projects at least a 6 percent increase in sales this year, which should bring its annual revenue to about $230,000.

The brighter financial picture follows lean margins in past years and tough years in 2011 and 2010, said Lisa Peasley, who opened the store seven years ago with her sister, Debbie Schlicker, and brother-in-law Gary.
