These days the market is getting more crowded with entrepreneurs creating Detroit-centric apparel.

Some of the better known ones include "Detroit vs Everybody" and "Don't Be Afraid of Detroit."

In the past year, Detroit native Jo Hicks has quietly joined the fray.

Hicks,  who owns three businesses on Livernois in Detroit, the Avenue of Fashion, has created a line of T-shirts, baseball caps and hoodies emblazoned with the words "Believe Detroit."  Some also say "Betroit," which is the name of her company.

Hicks says she believes her apparel has more a positive message than some of her competitors.

For now, she sells the product every Sunday at Eastern Market and out of two of her shops on Livernois: Stitches, a men's clothing store and the Upper Cut Sports Barber Shop.  She also owns a braiding shop on the block called Amazing Kinkz.

Deadline Detroit chatted with her Sunday at Eastern Market.
