WDIV reports that the city is investigating to see if the Detroit Department of Transportation could have done more to intervene in a brawl among four teens on a city bus on Friday afternoon on Van Dyke on the east side.
Cellphone video shows the girls throwing punches and yelling for several minutes, Kimberly Gill of WDIV reports.
A witness told WDIV that the fight broke out between King High School students on the packed bus, and some adult men intervened.
"I think it was pretty much at capacity," the witness said. "There were people standing. It was about 3 p.m., so school had just got out. There were quite a few high school students on the bus.”
The witness told WDIV the driver kept going until the next stop, about two or three miles, and she suggested the driver could have done more.
Dan Austin, a spokesman for the mayor, told WDIV that an investigation is underway to determine if protocol was followed.
