Detroit Fire Department Squad 5 and Medic 18 at Livernois and Curtis recently recorded themselves taking the "mannequin challenge." The two-minute skit, performed off-duty, is taped at the west-side station.
In case you've missed out on the Internet phenomenon, the new craze involves people remaining frozen in action while a video is recorded -- often to with background music of "Black Beatles" by Rae Sremmurd. Word is that the skit originated with students at Edward H. White High School in Jacksonville, Fla. in October. Later participants include Dallas Cowboy's owner Jerry Jones, NBA star LeBron James and First Lady Michelle Obama.
"We're trying to have some fun with this national Internet craze while drawing attention to the importance of public safety for citizens and the importance of the jobs of firefighters and EMTs," firefighter James Harris tells Deadline Detroit.
