The owner of Beirut Palace on Main Street in downtown Royal Oak says he's closing after 21 years because of scarce parking, chronic construction and local leaders who don't seem to care enough about merchants.
Sam Ahmad tells Fox 2''s Dave Spencer that all the construction downtown has gobbled up a lot of vehicleg spaces, and his business has dropped by about 25-30 percent. He said he's selling his business and plans to close this week.
"It's been the actions of the mayor and city manager that has resulted in Beirut Palace moving out of Royal Oak to a nearby city so I can support my family," he told the city council on Monday night.
Ahmad wishes the government would have been more engaged with small businesses to help them get past this challenging stretch, he says.
