A 93-year-old former DTE power plant in Marysville, in St. Clair County, 55 miles northeast of Detroit, was demolished last weekend in an implosion posted on YouTube.
The giant plume of dust took nearly two minutes to cross the St. Clair River, enveloping bumper-to-bumper traffic lining the Canadian shore, Bob Gross and Beth LeBlanc write in the Port Huron Times Herald.
DTE Energy closed the coal plant in 2001, Fox 2 News says. There are plans to use the property for stores, housing, a marina and bike trails.
