"It’s on a mug -- there’s no going back now," Stephen Clark posts Thursday morning.

JoAnne Purtan, who left WXYZ two weeks ago after the station didn't renew her contract, joins a friend and past colleague -- former WXYZ anchor Stephen Clark -- as a co-host on WOMC-FM (104.3)  morning radio from 6-10 a.m. She starts Monday.

Purtan will work the morning slot her father, Dick Purtan, occupied for the last 15 years of his radio career.

"A little nervous, but very excited," she says in a Facebook video taken at the Grand Canyon during a family trip. "The most humbling part for me is, yes, morning radio on the same radio station where my dad entertained audiences for the last 15 years of his legendary career."

Purtan's last shift as midday anchor at WXYZ was March 23.

Clark had left a month earlier, saying he'd retire from broadcasting to focus on his country music singing and songwriting sidelight. He owns a second residence in Nashville.

“We are thrilled that JoAnne is part of the new WOMC Morning Show. In addition to being a widely respected journalist, she is an integral part of the Detroit community,” station executive Debbie Kenyon says in a statement.  “JoAnne’s father, Dick Purtan, is a huge part of the heritage of WOMC and it’s exciting to have a Purtan back at the station.”
