Detroit filmmaker Anthony Brogdon interviews Detroiters whose families owned a business in the area in the early 1900s as part of his documentary "Business in the Black — The rise of black business in America, 1800s-1960s."

The 75-minute documentary (see trailer below) premieres this week in Detroit before showings in New York next Monday and Tuesday, then in Los Angeles June 20-24 and in other cities.

It will be available on Amazon by June 20, says Brogdon, who also includes details about black millionaires in the U.S. in the 1800s.

The Detroit premiere is 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History. On Thursday,  it will be shown at 6:30 p.m. in Royal Oak's Main Art Theatre. On Saturday, it will be shown at 11 a.m. in the Detroit Historical Museum.

Tickets to the premiere are $20, and $10 for the other screenings.
