Hall of Famer Chris Webber, who was part of the fabled Fab Five at the University of Michigan, broke ground Tuesday on a 180,000-square-foot, $50 million cannabis and training facility on 22nd Street in Detroit's Corktown.
The facility is owned by Players Only Holdings, a business co-founded by Webber and entrepreneur Lavetta Willis.
The business will include a 60,000-square-foot cultivation area and a 80,000-square-foot dispensary along with a private lounge for pot consumption. Additionally, people can train to learn about the various aspects of the cannabis business.
”Our business is a lot of places, in California and everything. I love it. But Detroit is home. And I see what’s going on there and I’m like wait, Detroit is actually better,” Webber tells WDIV.
”We understand what the plant can do for the body. So hopefully, we’ll be a part of making sure the children understand that it’s not for them, but the narrative of the adults, it is."
