The past two days the Yankees pounded the Tigers. On Thursday afternoon at Comerica Park the Tigers were hoping to give the Yankees an ass-whooping on the final game of the series.

But nobody really expected fists would fly. But they did, and Miguel Cabrera, who has had a frustrating season, got into a brawl and was ejected from the game.

It really began in the fifth inning when Tigers starter Michael Fulmer hit Gary Sanchez with a pitch. Sanchez hit a solo home run off him in the fourth inning and had pounded the Tigers in this series.

Then in the bottom of the sixth, with the Tigers winning 6-3, Yankees pitcher Tommy Kahnle was tossed out of the game for throwing at Cabrera, the Detroit Free Press reports.

Cabrera started jawing with Yankees' catcher Austin Romine, brother of Tigers Andrew Romine, and before long started pushing Romine. He then started throwing punches. The two engaged in combat as both benches cleared to respond to the home plate scuffle.

Cabrera was ejected in the sixth inning along with Yankees pitcher Tommy Kahnle, Yankees manager Joe Girardi and Yankees catcher  Romine.  Alex Wilson, Manager Brad Ausmus were later ejected. In all, eight people were tossed.

"Miggy is a lot better hitting with his fists than bat these days," Oakland Press sportswriter pat Caputo tweets.

The Tigers went on to win 10-6. It's off to Chicago to play the White Sox on Friday night.
