Michigan's newest carmaker, Detroit Electric, had a local unveiliing Wednesday of the limited-edition electric sports car it will start building this year in the metro area. It's a snazzy-looking model with an odd name: the SP:01.

For a look, see the WXYZ video below. An article at the station's website, by Dee-Ann Durbin of the Associated Press, has these details:

The two-seat, $135,000 SP:01 has a top speed of 155 miles per hour and can go from zero to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds, the same as BMW's high-performance M5 sedan. Detroit Electric says it will be the world's fastest pure electric production car.

Detroit Electric said the SP:01 can go for an estimated 190 miles between battery charges. A home charging station can fully charge the car in a little more than four hours.
