The public implosion of Cass Tech quarterback Jayru Campbell continued to play out in a courtroom on Friday.
Ann Zaniewski and Gina Damron write that a security film played in court shows Campbell putting his hand around his ex-girlfriend's neck and pushing her to the floor in a school stairwell.
After the girlfriend, 17, is back on her feet, Campbell rushes toward her and puts his arm around her, the Freep reports. She said she felt her feet leave the floor
"He was going to drop me," she said, testifying in Detroit 36th District Court for a preliminary examination for Campbell who faces charges on of unarmed robbery, assault with intent to do great bodily harm and misdemeanor domestic violence assault and battery.
Some students then intervened, the Freep reports.
Prosecutors allege that Campbell grabbed his ex-girlfriend's phone and assaulted her after becoming upset about text messages.
