This year marks the 50th anniversary of the 1967 riots. In the coming months, Deadline Detroit will be talking to people about their experiences during the historic uprising.

This interview with James Reynolds is the second in a series of conversations with people who were living and working in the city.
Deadline Detroit stopped by to talk with Reynolds, aka "The Shoe Doctor," who operates his shine business at One Campus Martius.
Reynolds, now 72, was 23 at the time of the July riot a half-century ago. He's still a Detroiter.
