Operating a gas station in Detroit is no easy task. Owners deal with crime that can include shoplifting, robbery, carjackings and even murder.

Here's an example of another challenge:

A video released by Detroit Police on Friday shows a man having a fit after the clerk at the BP gas station in the 18500 block of 7 Mile refuses to give him free merchandise, reports George Hunter of The Detroit News.

"The man requested free items, and when the clerk told him he wasn’t going to get anything for free, he became irate and pulled down the snack rack,” Detroit Police Officer Nicole Kirkwood said.

When the clerk activates a door lock to keep the man in the store for police, the man kicks the door open and walks away. `

The station participates in city’s Project Green Light initiative, in which businesses install lights and high-definition surveillance cameras that are hooked up to the Detroit Police Real-Time Crime Center, the News reports.
