Paul Bishop and Jerrett Eiler didn't actually attend the University of Michigan -- they went to Eastern, which is a fine school -- but they are both HUGE Michigan football fans. And, Oh Em Gee, they work in their employer's Columbus, Ohio office!
How ever did these two Ann Arbor natives find themselves in Ohio State's backyard?
As Tom Walsh explains, they left their jobs for an Ann Arbor staffing firm to join another staffing firm called Vaco. But they had a noncompete clause in their previous contract, so they were sent to the Columbus office. This sounds like the premise of a zany (read: neither funny nor clever) CBS sitcom wedged between "Two Broke Girls" and "The Big Bang Theory."
Detroit Free Press: Eiler: It was two years of mental and verbal abuse, getting razzed here and there, but for the most part we had a good time with it. Columbus is actually a great Midwest town with very good people. Once you get past that initial, “Oh you’re from Michigan, screw you,” people were very welcoming. We became known as the Michigan guys ... and we gained a lot of clients because of it. People respected our courage and appreciated the fact that we were very open about it. It was fun, a good experience for sure —but I’m glad I’m back home.
You know what we call people who can work with other people who may have contrary sports allegiances? Grown-ups. Unremarkable grown-ups.
Get over yourselves, bros.
