A romance-seeking gent who was too trusting -- naive, actually -- wound up alone and carless, Joe Slezak reports in the Press & Guide newspaper.
The 40-year-old Dearborn man and a new friend stopped at Yassine’s Royal Pastries on Warren Avenue for a snack. She stayed in his idling 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt, Slezak writes.
When he returned to the car, the vehicle and the woman were gone. He told police he didn’t give the woman permission to take the car.
He said he met the woman in an online chat room the night before. They met, but he couldn’t remember her name.
He did remember then she said she recently finished an 18-month prison sentence.
