Fox2 will be getting some competition.

Kirk Pinho of Crain's Detroit Business reports that WXYZ will start a local 10 p.m. newscast on its new sister station,  WMYD Channel 20, beginning tonight.

Media company E.W. Scripps Co., the parent company of WXYZ-TV, closed Monday on the purchase of MyNetwork TV affiliate WMYD Channel 20 in a $110 million cash deal, Crain's reports.  The purchase also includes  WKBW, Buffalo’s ABC affiliate, from New York City-based Granite Broadcasting Corp.

Crain's reports that the  WMYD's Monday-Friday broadcast will be anchored by Glenda Lewis and Malcolm Maddox. Chief Meteorologist Dave Rexroth will do the weather and and WXYZ Sports Director Tom Leyden will do sports.
