Trooper Chad Wolf

A 69-year-old Waterford Township motorist charged in the accident that resulted in the August death of Michigan State Trooper Chad Wolf has an extensive driving record, including driving with a suspended license, The Oakland Press reports.

Charles Raymond Warren Jr. had at  least 12 driving offenses between 2007 and 2014, according to the Michigan Secretary of State.

Eight of the offenses were speed-related, two were for traffic violations, one was for driving without insurance and one was while Warren was driving with a suspended license, the paper reports.

Warren Jr., who is under house arrest on a GPS tether, was charged last Friday with reckless driving causing death and failure to stop at the scene of an accident causing death tied to the late August accident, John Turk writes:

Warren’s charges stem from a nearly two-month investigation into the death of Trooper Chad Wolf, who died Aug. 28, following an accident while on patrol on Dixie Highway near I-75 in Springfield Township.

Police say Warren was hauling an empty trailer when he collided with Wolf, who was on a motorcycle. Wolf was dragged nearly four miles at speeds of up to 65 mph, according to the state police investigation.
