“Jannie Annie” was a professional clown who loved to make people smile and was kind, caring, funny, and beautiful with or without her make-up on, an obituary on the funeral pages says. She created the clown character more than 25 years ago.

On Tuesday, she died at her Dearborn home unexpectedly  at age 60, reports the Detroit Free Press. She had been feeling under the weather this week.

When she didn't play the role of a popular clown in the Dearborn area, at birthday parties and school events, she was known as Janice Lagerstrom.

"She liked being a clown," Donald Lagerstrom, her brother, told the Freep. "That was pretty much her main job; she did other side jobs to support herself. She just loved children and kids."

She was the aunt of 13 and great-aunt of 3.

Visitation will take place on Friday 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Dearborn Chapel of Howe-Peterson Funeral Home, 22546 Michigan Ave.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday at noon at Howe-Peterson. Friends and family are welcome to gather from 10 a.m. until 12 noon prior to the service.
