UPDATE: Monday, 2:55 p.m. -- WXYZ has identified the suspected shooter as Ricky Coley, who had been ordered by a judge to leave the house by Monday. The station reports that a judge had just granted a divorce to the wife, who had accused her husband of infidelity, emotional abuse, and of physically attacking her in June causing serious injuries. The judge also granted sole custody to their 7-year-old child and ordered Coley to pay $190 a week in child support.
UPDATED: Monday 10 p.m. -- WXYZ reports that the suspect is dead. The station reports that robots went inside and saw the man laying on the bed motionless. It was unclear how he died.
Of all place, the suburb of West Bloomfield seems an unlikely place for this to happen.
But WXYZ reports that a West Bloomfield cop was fatally shot Sunday night when responding to gun fire at a home.
The officer was taken to McLaren Hospital in Pontiac where he was later pronounced. The Detroit News is identifying the officer as Patrick O'Rourke, 39.
Police responded to a domestic dispute at the home near Pontiac Trail and Halsted around 10 p.m.
When the cops entered the home, the suspect was at the top of the stairs with a rifle.
The officer was shot in the neck.
WXYZ is reporting that the gunman remains in the home and is firing at robots officers are sending in.
